Introduction to Coherent Breathing

Connect with the intelligence of the heart

Breath as a doorway

We breathe around twenty thousand times a day, almost always without noticing. Yet breath is the only function of the autonomic nervous system we can consciously guide — a direct bridge between what happens inside us and what we can choose to transform.

Coherent breathing is as simple as it is profound: breathing at a slow, regular rhythm, around five to six breaths per minute. At this frequency something remarkable happens. The rhythm of breath, heart and blood pressure come into sync, giving rise to a state researchers call heart coherence.

What happens in the body

When breath slows down and becomes regular, the body receives a clear message of safety.

The vagus nerve engages, shifting the nervous system from alert into rest and recovery. Heart rate variability — a key marker of adaptability and resilience — increases. The mind quiets, emotions find space, thinking becomes clearer.

This is not only about relaxing. It is about returning the whole organism to a state of balance from which the body's natural capacity to heal can express itself again.

The workshop

Introduction to Coherent Breathing is an evening session for anyone who wants to experience the transformative power of breath first-hand, with no prior experience. During the evening you will:

  • ·Understand the basics of coherent breathing and heart coherence, in simple and concrete language
  • ·Experience the practice guided step by step, in a warm and protected setting
  • ·Notice the effects on your presence, your stress level and the quality of your attention
  • ·Take home a tool you can use on your own, every day, wherever you are

Nothing is needed but the curiosity to listen to yourself. We sit, we breathe together, we go home lighter.

Who it is for

This session is open to everyone: to those going through stress or tension, to those who want more calm and presence in their day, to those curious about the link between breath, heart and nervous system — and to anyone who feels the need to slow down and reconnect with themselves.

No previous experience is required.
